Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation Statement

At BB Disability, we believe every person has the right to live free from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation. We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment where the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of all people we support are upheld.

Our Commitment

  • We provide services in an environment that is safe, respectful, and free from abuse, neglect and exploitation.
  • We ensure that people with high support needs and/or communication difficulties are supported to enable the detection and prevention of harm.
  • Our staff are trained to recognise, prevent, and respond to abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Responding to Concerns

We take all allegations or suspicions of abuse, neglect or exploitation seriously.

  • Any concern will be responded to promptly and sensitively, with the safety of the individual as our first priority.
  • We encourage and support anyone to raise concerns without fear of retribution.
  • We will report incidents to the appropriate authorities, including the NDIS Commission or police, and ensure all individuals involved are supported to access independent advocacy, legal, or other services.

Our Responsibility

  • All staff, contractors and volunteers are required to always treat participants with respect and dignity.
  • Our leadership team is accountable for ensuring all staff are trained and compliant with policies and procedures to prevent and respond to abuse, neglect and exploitation.
  • We work in partnership with families, guardians, and advocates to safeguard the rights and wellbeing of participants.

Zero Tolerance

We have zero tolerance for any form of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Any worker found to be engaging in such behaviour, or failing to report it, will face disciplinary action, which may result in termination of employment.
